Installing Lubbock Solar Panels

The City of Lubbock, Texas, is well known for a variety of reasons. It produces 80% of the wine grapes in Texas, and it has more music venues per capita than any other city in the state. Needless to say, you can have a great time in Lubbock. These two things alone make Lubbock a great place, but there’s another way this city could put itself on the map. That’s by utilizing clean, green, renewable energy with Lubbock solar panels.

Solar panels are an amazing investment for both home and business owners. You can utilize a resource that you have access to every day- sunshine- and turn it into electricity for your home to use. So instead of having to pull electricity from your utility grid, you just use the solar energy produced by your solar panels. This cuts down your monthly utility bill by quite a bit, so you get to keep more of your hard-earned money. With the 26% Federal Solar Tax Credit, Sunpro Solar’s warranties and guarantees, and other solar incentives, switching to Lubbock solar panels is an easy choice to make.

  • 26% Federal Solar Tax Credit
  • Solar Property Tax Exemption
  • Net Metering
  • Solar Rights Law

26% Federal Solar Tax Credit

Purchasing something for a discount is always nice. And this particular incentive, available for people looking to install Lubbock solar panels, is really, really nice. From January 1st to December 31st, 2020, you can get 26% of the total cost of your solar panels- including installation costs- back in tax credits thanks to the federal government. That means if you purchased your solar panels for $12,000, you get $3,120 back in tax credits. So now your solar panels cost you $8,880.Lubbock Texas Solar Panel Installer

Don’t wait to take advantage of this incentive, however. In 2021, the tax credit is reduced down to 22%, and then in 2022, it’s unavailable for residential solar panels. So be sure to act quickly to get your 26% Federal Solar Tax Credit.

Property Tax Exemption for Lubbock Solar Panels

When you install solar panels, the value of your home is raised. Normally when you increase the value of your home, you have to pay increased property taxes as well. But that is not the case when it comes to solar panels. Because the great state of Texas is pro-renewable energy, they have made solar power systems completely property tax exempt. That means you can go solar in Lubbock and not have to pay any extra property taxes.

Net Metering for Lubbock Solar Panels

You can see really big savings with your solar panels- especially if you take advantage of net metering! Net metering is a program where any excess electricity your solar panels produce is sent to your utility grid. Your utility company will then credit your account for the energy, lowering your utility bill even further, and increasing your savings.

The state of Texas does not require net metering. However, many utility companies and cooperatives offer net metering or similar programs. Below are a few of the net metering programs available to residents of Lubbock. Please note that Sunpro Solar will handle any and all net metering requirements on your behalf. The information listed below is purely for your information.

Lubbock Solar Rights Law

There are some Home Owners Associations out there who are not exactly the most solar friendly. Perhaps you live in a neighborhood with an HOA that has this particular attitude. Well, don’t let that worry you. That’s because in Texas, HOAs have absolutely no ability to prevent you from installing solar panels, whether in Lubbock, or elsewhere. They may work with you to ensure they are placed in a way that the HOA approves of, but they cannot prevent you from getting the solar panels. They also cannot require you to place your Lubbock solar panels in a location that will prevent you from getting the maximum amount of energy savings.
