Solar Panels Raleigh, NC

The city of Raleigh, North Carolina is a great place to considering going solar. According to the EIA, electricity consumers in North Carolina use more power than is generated in the state. Almost two of every three North Carolina households use electricity for home heating, and, because of the hot and humid summers, almost all of the state’s households use air conditioning as well.

Solar energy use is growing rapidly in the state of North Carolina and in 2017, utility-scale solar power surpassed conventional hydroelectric power for the first time. Residents of North Carolina are starting to see the benefits of solar panel installation.

And with over 200 days of sunlight a year in Raleigh, homeowners can see substantial savings with a solar panel system.

Why Go Solar in Raleigh?

Cost of Solar Panels in Raleigh

Solar panels can add property value, give you back control of your electric bills, and reduces your personal carbon footprint. But how much do solar panels cost? There are various factors that determine the final cost of a solar panel installation including energy consumption, sunlight exposure, equipment, labor, and available solar incentives. The amount of unique variables makes it difficult to give a one-size-fits-all price for a solar energy system.

Fortunately, as a reputable solar company, Sunpro Solar can offer you a free quote based on your unique situation such as energy consumption and sunlight exposure. We can even take into account the savings you’ll be receiving from solar incentives.

Raleigh, NC Solar Incentives and Rebates

With the North Carolina solar incentives available to Raleigh homeowners, switching to solar power has never been more affordable. Available solar incentives include:

26% Federal Solar Tax Credit

Free Solar QuoteUsing the 26% Federal Solar Tax Credit means you get 26% of the total cost of your solar panels back in tax credits. You can use that towards your tax liability that year, and if there’s any remainder, it’ll roll right over to the next year.

So if you purchased a solar panel system and it cost you $10,000, you could get $2,600 back in tax credits! This would reduce the overall cost of your system to $7,400, which is a pretty great deal. Keep in mind that this incentive won’t be available forever though.

When you decide to go solar in Raleigh, take advantage of the 26% tax credit through the end of 2022. The Solar Federal Tax Credit for homeowners with solar power will drop to 22% in 2023.

Property Tax Exemption in Raleigh

A great benefit to solar panels that you may not have been aware of is that they add value to your home! This is a great benefit, and if you ever need to move, it can help give you more sellers power. You may be concerned that this added value will add a lot to your property taxes, but don’t worry. Your solar panels are 80% property tax exempt, which means that the added value still far outweighs any added property tax.

Solar Panel Net Metering in Raleigh

A great way to get the most value out of your solar panels is with net metering. With net metering, you can sell any excess electricity that your solar panels produce to your utility company. Your utility company will then credit your account for the electricity that they receive. This reduces your monthly bill even further, so more of your money stays in your hands, where it belongs.

Currently, the utility companies listed below offer net metering. The great news is that any and all requirements for net metering are handled for you by Sunpro Solar. They are simply listed here for your knowledge.
