This past August 7-9, 2018, Facebook held their Community Boost conference at the River City Venues in New Orleans. Facebook’s goal was to help people grow their businesses by utilizing Facebook and Instagram to connect with the community. Small Business Marketing Coordinator, Josh Abah, said, “Marketing is not about talking to more people. It’s about reaching the most significant and reachable people.”
Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans spoke about growth and opportunity increasing in the city thanks to local businesses. She also thanked Facebook Community Boost for holding the event in New Orleans.
We also heard from several local New Orleans business owners who used Facebook to grow their businesses. These businesses included Zeus’ Rescues, Magnolia Yoga Studio, Wakin’ Bakin’ Cafe, and VCB Photography. We heard stories about how each one was able to use Facebook to increase engagement and awareness, and how it helped them interact more with their customers throughout the New Orleans community. Crystal Chura, representing Wakin’ Bakin’, at one point commented “How did we reach people before this useful tool?”
Thank you, Facebook, for bringing the Community Boost to New Orleans and teaching Sunpro Solar better ways to reach the New Orleans community and everyone across the Gulf South.
